Keeping a Travel Journal

It is nice to keep a travel journal or a travel blog, and write about travel memories, discoveries and learning.  A journal is a wonderful memoir.  When writing a travel journal or blogging about it, your travel experiences will be richer.  When you write your travel journal, think about what you want to remember in years to come.  You want to include the details such as: dates, times, places, and costs, and details about what you did, where you went, and what you have seen.  Your journal has to be fun and inspiring.  Document your itinerary at the front of your journal.  You can keep track of how your itinerary changes as you travel.  Writing every day, even small details will help you maintain your momentum.  You can find theme based on things, and activities that made you smile.  Write about what you did, and what you learned, how this travel is changing you, what has surprised you.  When you’re home sharing your travel stories, or perhaps years later when someone asks you for a recommendation, you’ll want to remember some of the details of the day.  Try to write some details about your travel experiences in bullet points every day such as: where you stayed, where you got that fantastic coffee, the restaurant you want to make sure no one goes to, and tasteful dish that you tried.  Capture the details that you think will be important.  If you are artistic and creative, do not afraid to sketch what you saw.  Have glue with you.  So, you can add theater tickets, postcards, or part of a brochure to make your pages interesting. Combined with the photographs, these journals help us remember the details of what would otherwise be a faded memory.

•Think about what you saw that surprised you.

•Think about what amused you.

•Think about the sights, smells, tastes, and sounds.

•What was the name of that guide, site, etc?

•Take a picture of that historic plaque to help you with details you may want later.

Happy Travel Journaling!
